Internship Track
The internship track requires students to take the internship course (ENG 5312) and one extra elective. The internship track does not require you to go out and find an internship. In the MATC program, the "internship" refers to the ENG 5312 class that is offered by an MATC faculty member every spring semester. This class is a service learning class in which students use their theoretical and practical knowledge from previous courses to complete tech comm work for a client (generally in groups of 3 or 4), interact with the client throughout the semester to clarify and refine goals, conduct audience analysis research, and provide the client with a tech comm deliverable at the end of the semester. After the course is completed, you leave with a resume line item. In general, you will take this course during your last spring semester in the program.
Students may be interested in the internship track for a variety of reasons, including:
- don't want to write a thesis.
- want to obtain some work experience before graduation.
- want to demonstrate general technical communication knowledge.

- Taking direction and feedback from professional clients and/or an Editor-in-chief.
